Prayer Flag Project

I started these flags up in Lac Du Flam beau at Dillman's Art Resort alongside Laura's collage workshop, and just in the nick off belated time added some finishing edges and incorporated bits of prayer into the design. The LaGrange Art League at 122 Calendar Circle will have an outdoor display of flags, also an indoor one with reception coming soon and I wanted to participate in the collaboration. Should be something to see!

Bark

Loved the chips of bark coming off the pines, looked like puzzle pieces...

More on the Crayfish Theme

Spending time getting intimate with the rotting miniature lobster. Sat him on the picnic table in front of me and kept turning for new views to witness each skeletal spacing. Flies were attracted to the rotting crustacean and I watched them enter and leave the interior flesh. Laura invited me to draw indoors with her class, but I said my still life was foul and not to subject her pupils to my idiosynchronisities. Doubt they would have objected, but still...

Crayfish

Laura and I really had fun attempting to fish the crayfish out of the lake with a homemade poker stick. Quite the adventure but we finally pulled it off. Day was mid sixties and braving the water didn't even seem an option. We found that this blue crayfish is indigenous to the area, they've been plagued by the rusty crayfish which is not. After pulling this specimin out, I noticed many along south shore in much shallower water.

Totem at Dillman's

Boy did I have a time uploading the photo here... but now it is also my screen saver. Dillman's is nestled within Lac Du Flambeau which is a Chippewa reservation. Beautiful country, quite the view behind the totem. Never quite know where to look, there's so much beauty here. Still lacking some perception skills and added the lowest totem out to the side rather than delete.

First pages in my sketchbook, rather haphazard getting back into drawing after long stint, but so much to see up at Dillman's Bay Resort. A little bit of unexpected heaven... gratitude to cousin Laura for inviting me to tag along and to my employers who covered my absences for a week of dreams.
