Fat Tuesday with Chanti

Finally back to life group and we celebrated Mardi Gras with food and song and costume. Chanti wore beads and lovely feathers in her hair. Ronnie set up masks behind her and lovely costume dress from her hand. It was a very nice evening with Jennifer's jumbalaya and cheese dip. Gaylord wore an Elvis wig and brought shrimp and brandy. Don't think anybody touched the thin mint girl scout cookies my boss gave me earlier that day. A few gesture warm ups and one long pose for the evening. I believe a couple more hours and this may be finished. Work in progress so to speak. But where will I show her after she's complete?

You will show in the art leagues and just go with it..don't be intimidated by them... some day you will have a show all your own and your life drawings will be the focal point...work towards that... Your ablity to contiue creating despite our ecomony... something will come you will see.. I see in the cards...that's the gyspy in me speaking now... no really you should look at it hat way building a good 25 life drawing images to present in a gallery for a show...proposal time...

Very nice work again Doris, and I'm with Laura.. maybe there's a solo show in your future.

Yep, solo show. Laura's advice sounds good. I'll think about it for my own self too. Sounds like such a great party atmosphere. And the model, love the beads and feather draped on hair. Amazing how these details can make an image sometimes. Envision a showing of all your works somewhere. It will happen. Am thankful you share them here. I can never get enough!By the way, I LOVE thin mints.

Props (beads, hats, boas, etc) can really make a session. Two weeks ago, for the University of Chicago group I decided to wear my Australian bush hat for one pose. (http://www.ebartz.com/business/ebartz/ecomitems/JHT-14320.jpg) Normally this is a very quiet group... the only thing ever said at a session is 'time's up, next pose". They were quite appreciative and even asked me for more poses with the hat. They got more talkative, and even cracked some jokes. It's funny how bringing a prop can put a different spin on the whole evening.

Ok cheap shameless plug time.. I'm working at Tallgrass in Park Forest IL, this Sunday from 3 to 5. Sorry for hijacking your blog Doris.
