Aurora's First Alley Art Festival

In between other running last Saturday, I made it down to the very First Alley Art festival off Water Street in downtown Aurora. My son's girlfriend has been busy with her "Hoopatomic" business, making hula hoops and practicing her craft to demonstrate. Meghan is in hula garb in two of the photos and RC my older son in the other. It was so great to experience very youthful art and performance, so very creative and fresh. There was a great feeling of union between all the different young artists putting themselves out there. I'm afraid quite so often seasoned adults stick to themselves bound up by their personal stigmas and become unapproachable. I wish I had more time there, the ska band just starting up before I left was absolutely wonderful. I had a chance to see a Nido Threads exhibit and Maureen Gasek's abstracts. Was hoping to introduce myself to Lisa Gloria, but she seemed to have pulled out early. I'm teeming with pride as Meghan approached her first sucessful showing with assistance from my wonderful son. They're a great blend of people.

Make Your Mark Project

The fish and weaving are previous sketches I had added last spring to the group journal in LaGrange Art League's Make Your Mark Project, spearheaded by artist Laura Lein-Svencner. I added the sketch of Matisse's sculpture yesterday when putting in my monthly volunteer time staffing the gallery.

Oswego Art Fair

Kendall Art Guild Tent. My abstract acrylic on front left top.

Beverly came out to visit. It was so wonderful to have company.

Me. Photos complements of Walter Lesus, newest Kendall Art Guild member, fellow artist.
It was a great artful weekend. Saturday I hadn't made it to the show, but my work was dropped off, ready to hang. Sunday was a great day of discovery as cousin Laura Lein-Svencner kidnapped me and took me out to see Water St. Studios in Batavia, then off to Artesmia, shop and gallery in Geneva. I sucked in more sights than I could swallow. Then mandatory volunteer time at Oswego Art Faire, spent time visiting with fellow artists, and visitors from far off Frankfort. It was a wonderful full day off labors. Thanks all!

Morning Glories

Years ago... enjoying a morning brew my ex had asked of me, where I was at, my answer in the morning glories. So very odd, he found a generic coffee mug with both my name and a pix of my morning glories. I felt acknowledged. Finally a Sunday morning, without major work pressing, I enjoyed the morning, without any pressure.
Years back, I planted morning glories at a house I was renting. So slow to grow, they blossomed the day I moved back home.

Newest Neighbors

I do seem to get the best neighbors. Four arrived today and are yet a bit shy, but I think in time we'll be fast friends. A couple young girls were tending to them, but with my barking dogs I mostly kept some distance. I did throw a few apples over the fence though. They are beautiful, aren't they?

Red Skies in the Morning

Sailor's Warning. Morning view, before I lost power.
